This is a pretty standard narcissistic blog about myself.
I needed a creative outlet. Pounding the pavement of New York City trying to be an actor was getting really discouraging. As an actor, I am dependent on other people coming together to practice my art. It’s not until the playwright has written the script and the producer has chosen to produce it, and the directer has chosen me to act in it along with other actors, that I get to do what I love–create a character and tell that character’s story to an audience. The collaborative nature is part of what I love about acting, but I often envy writers and painters and the like, because even if they aren’t getting paid either, they always have the opportunity to practice their art. I have tried to reciting monologues in my living room “for fun.” It wasn’t fun. I don’t know writing this blog will be fun. But I’ll give it a go. Thanks being an audience.
p.s. I will try my best, but spelling and grammar are not my forte. Feel free to let me know if I make some grievous blunder. Hopefully it won’t ever be too distracting.
